Positive change. That’s something I was scouring the Internet for, looking for someone who thought the same thing I did. Although I do believe people who aren’t cisgendered have a right to be angry with the way that others treat them, I don’t believe in any was that “die cis scum” is an appropriate way to handle any situation. I’m not offended when I read the phrase because I’ve educated myself on the matter and see why people feel using this phrase is appropriate and to an extent, I can understand where their anger is coming from but I want to throw an opinion out about why that phrase is just wrong to use.
No where in that phrase does it make a point as to who is scum, except for the cis part which is very vague. It doesn’t make a point to explain why someone should be labeled as scum, except for the cis portion. I can understand why some people are offended by that phrase. It appears as an attack against cisgendered identities that don’t carry the same train of thought or ideas that other radicalist have, who are against people within the Trans/Queer community. I’ve come to terms that it’s mainly used against people who want to disrupt any progress that the Trans/Queer community or even the Queer community are attempting to create, but attempting to stomp out hate by using hate is ridiculous.
I like to think about it like this. Take a fish tank for instance (we’ll say the tank resembles the structure of society as a whole.) Filled with water (water being people), if a rock (hateful comments or attacks) is dropped into the tank, it creates a ripple that travels from the origin of the drop to all sides of the tank then makes its way back, eventually repeating the ripple until it eventually subsides affecting the water as a whole. Using the phrase “die cis scum” is almost like throwing another rock into the water, causing more ripples and waves that really doesn’t resolve much. It’s still another attack that can easily be manipulated and turned against people who thought it would help solve or deter any future issues. Instead of throwing more rocks into the water, how about we build buffers (educating others on the matter about how to deal with the hate in a healthy manner) that slows down the ripples and waves caused by these individuals that want to harm others, almost making the ripples meaningless attacks against the Trans/Queer community. Yes, they are still attacks but in this way of dealing with them, they can easily be pushed off as a childish and useless way in making a point.
I know that the above paragraph probably has some flaws in it but that’s the way I see how these comments are being used. Using means of hate to stomp out any other form of hate doesn’t solve the problem, it only makes things worse. Instead, let’s all ban together and attempt to solve this issue by acting like adults. We live in such a strong community that phrases like this will only cause more problems and won’t lead to any hope of a better future. So let’s all get ourselves together and move in a positive direction with this matter.

You know what’s sad? That a wise, calm post like this gets only six notes, while shrieking, irrational arguments in favor of wishing death on people gets hundreds

This is what happens when I try to lay down and use my computer. Loki lays on my chest and won’t move. Yes, he’s laying across my boobs…so it makes it even harder to see over them -.-
